This month we caught up with master drummer Graham Fox while recording in Brighton for his new Brushes Sample collection due to be released on the Drum Drops label early 2010.
Having been brought up listening to the likes of Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, Tito Puente and later Jimi Hendrix (amongst others), Graham has worked as a session drummer recording for major labels such as EMI, Universal, Atlantic/Motown and Ubiquity.
Formerly working with Nostalgia 77 (Tru Thoughts) and the Filthy Six (Acid Jazz Records) Graham has recently stepped away from the jazz world, working with Graham Coxon (Blur) on the Feb 2008 album “The Spinning Top” (Transgressive Records) and also recently completed an album with U.N.K.L.E. which is due out in Feb 2010 on Surrender All Records.
We talked to him about his early influences and discover some of his working methods and kit preferences for that perfect jazz sound!
Enjoy!
