He then worked at various other clubs in London (Billion Dollar Babes), eventually becoming a resident DJ at one of the UK’s largest club nights at ‘Cream’, and subsequently going on to feature at their Ibiza nights.

In 2000, he joined BBC Radio 1 as a specialist dance DJ, hosting a weekly show, as well as broadcasts from Radio 1 outside broadcasts in Ibiza.

Seb has released numerous records, predominantly mix albums, and remixed tracks including the Outhere Brothers, but has shied away from many remixing opportunities, to avoid overexposure, and has instead used several Pseudonyms in place.

Now closely associated with the brand Type which he has used for naming both his London club nights and album releases. Seb continues his mission to push the dirty, chunky house sound which makes the club so exciting.

“For every person who says ‘clubbing was better five years ago,’ there’s someone new coming into it who will remember last Saturday like we remember 1990. Everyone has their time and place. Everyone has their moment – a year or two when everything is the most exciting thing in the world. And that’s cool. As a DJ, you’ve got to try to help people have their moment all the time.”

Here Seb talks about how the industry has changed with the new wave of technology – and why today’s music climate poses new challenges for A&R and distribution.<br

In Michael Woods short career he has managed to touch on every cornerstone, leaving proof of his musical competence at producing big room, progressive and tech-house tracks.

This has not gone unnoticed, with DJs like Pete Tong jumping at the chance to document Michael’s rise, featuring him on shows such as Radio 1’s 15 minutes of Fame.

Of Argentinean & Guyanese decent, he was born and raised in Hackney London where he now runs his studio. Classically trained in a range of instruments, Michael says it was one night at ‘The Coliseum’ in Vauxhall that changed his life. “I heard Grace ‘Not Over Yet’ and there was no more questioning it, I had to be a part of it all, if I made any money or not.”

Initially breaking into the scene as Warrior and landing himself a top 20 UK and #1 club chart smash with the eponymous track, Michael’s sophomore release, ‘Voodoo, ’ enjoyed similar success and led to a string of collaborations, including 2003’s hook-up with Judge Jules and vocalist sister Marcella Woods on ‘Beautiful. ’

He has collaborated and remixed with the likes of Chris Lake, Deadmau5’s and Way Out West, plus mainstream artists including Madonna, Kylie, Adele and Nate James. His ability to rework music with an exceptionally sharp ear for quality production has left him in high regard with many artists and labels across the industry.

More recently ‘Diffused Music’ has become his major priority since he founded the label in September 2008. Using it as a platform from which to propagate his perfected sound. Now touring with Deadmau5 and recently earning a residency spot at one of the most sought after club’s on the planet – Cream’s Amnesia in Ibiza, it is apparent that this is not the summit of his creativity, but rather a preview into an illustrious career still to come.

LoopTV caught up with Michael just before his recent set at Digital to talk about his rising success as one of the UK hottest DJs and his label, plus his new residency at Amnesia and life touring with Deadmau5!

Enjoy!

<a
