In celebration of officially becoming the unruly teenager it always wanted to be, The Gallery’s 15th Birthday represented the mother of all parties taking place at The Ministry Of Sound featuring a Stella lineup including headline performances from DJs Paul Oakenfold, Tall Paul, Seb Fontaine, Danny Rampling, Gavyn Mytchel and The Viceroy.

Starting life at their father’s club Turnmills, The Gallery was the brainchild of brothers ‘Tall’ Paul and Danny Newman.  As Danny explains:

‘We started with the idea of doing a few one-off parties, my Dad came up with the logo, Paul came up with the name and we did our first night at the end of April as it was my brother Paul’s Birthday. We didn’t go into it with the view to starting a weekly night it was more about showcasing the kind of music, producers, and DJs that we really liked.

With a UK-club tour, a special limited edition DVD plus a brand new mix album to celebrate this milestone achievement…LoopTV caught up with Paul Oakenfold, Seb Fontaine and Tall Paul to reminisce about the last 15years and to hail the beginning of the next!

Chris Cowie is one of the most licensed and prolific DJ producers in the world dance scene, with an uncountable number of tracks on hundreds of compilations across genres from Tech-House to groundbreaking Trance and Techno.

DJs as diverse as Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia and Paul Oakenfold cite him as an influence, and he continues to produce cutting edge music to this day.

In may 2008 Cowie re-launched Hook and Bellboy Records and now for the first time the Hook-Bellboy tracks are available for digital download.

Here LoopTV interviews Chris – and in this first part of three, he talks about the label relaunch, his plans for a new producer sample collection, and his new album which takes him to new sonic territory!

5. Finally we present part 3 of the Logic tutorials with Rob Jones. He shows us some of the basic mastering tools you can use to finalise your tracks within the Logic environment.

LoopTV – The Music Producers Channel

Starting out in the late 90s garage scene, Nick Deekline’s history as a producer stretches way back, but as the UK’s bass-driven scenes morphed into new and exciting sounds, Deekline became known within breakbeat circles for his cult label Rat Records, and for his duo, Deekline & Wizard.

Healey on the other hand, came from the other side of the galaxy, dominating charts and DJ playlists with his filthy, electro house beats as one half of Coburn before eventually teaming up with Nick.

Now the pair’s new label Giant Pussy Records combines all of Deekline and Healey’s breaks, house and dubstep influences, and as Tim sums it up, ‘It’s a vault of sleaze, trash, and bass’.

LoopTV recently caught up with the duo and special guests at their first year bash, to help celebrate their first year of Giant Pussy!  We asked them to reflect on a year in ghetto, and spill the beans on whats coming up!

Next we present the second part of our new ‘Frontline Producer Series’ presented by industry songwriter and producer Laurance Traverso at Air Studios.  He takes us through his tracking process as he records the acoustic guitar parts for his pop project, paying particular attention to compression and Eq settings on the way.
3. We then grab a word with Drum and Bass Godfather – Ray Keith who tells us what it was like putting together his first ever sample pack for Loopmasters, and why making DnB is like cooking for him!
4. Finally we present part 1 of ‘The Dark Arts’ a brand new 2 part extended interview and discussion with legendary mastering engineer Ray Staff. Recently filmed at AIR Mastering at the infamous AIR Studios in London – we explore the some of the questions surrounding the dark art of mastering.

After finding his niche within the Drum and Bass scene in the early 90s having initially remixed tracks for Moby, Shades Of rhythm, St. Etienne and Orbital, he then went on to notch up two of the scenes most memorable releases of all time with ‘The Renegade Terrorist’ and ‘The Chopper’.

Always at the cutting edge of Drum and Bass and with regular shows on Vibe FM and appearances on Kiss FM, plus running his labels Dread Recordings, Penny Black and UFO Records, it’s a wonder at all that he’s found time to record his first ever sample pack entitled ‘Ray Keith Original Drum & Bass Vol.1′ – now available through Loopmasters.

Here Ray Talks to LoopTV about his experiences about making the pack and why he thought it necessary to give back a little of his unique production sound to his ever increasing audience of fans!

Ray remains one of the hardest working producers on the DnB scene and certainly one of the ‘Godfathers of DnB’ who continues to push the boundaries of his productions and DJ sets!  If Drum and Bass had a face – no doubt it would look exactly like Ray Keith’s!

LoopTV – The Music Producers Channel

The London based UK Beatbox champion and Youtube phenomenon tells us a little about his performance rig and his kit list he employs to create his unique musical, beatbox and comedy driven stage sets.

Through innovative use of looping tools he produces whole improvised DJ sets where the records are constructed live from his vocalisations.  Combining this musicality with his trademark leftfield comedy take on life has made watching Beardyman a ‘must see’ experience…

Previously he has impersonated Elvis, dressed as a monkey on stage at Bestival and once posed as an Austrian climate change lecturer, “Professor Bernhard Steinerhoff”, before breaking into his set…

Here we see him dueling on stage with Legendary MC Inja at the recent gig at the Junction in Cambridge.

Brighton based Loopmasters first came to light in 1999 under the ‘Beatnik Samples’ banner, and released 4 Sample CDs known as the ‘Modular Series’ to critical acclaim, but it wasn’t until early 2003 that the current Loopmasters brand was officially launched.

Their aim was simply to produce flexible sample libraries for producers and musicians who required top quality playing from seasoned professioanls to integrate into and inspire their music.

Loopmasters now a byword for quality, value and flexibility has since gone from strength to strength by constantly re-examining producers needs, and redefining genres and formats to accommodate and inspire producers.  It was the first company in its class to launch an Artist Series, and more recently the Label Series.

We catch with some of the labels Artists to find out the secret behind one of the Sample industries most enduring successes.

In over 15 years of professional DJing and production, Alex Blanco and Jon Carter have clocked up some serious production and remix credits between them, working alongside such names as U2, Manic Street Preachers, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Seb Fontaine, Just Jack, Simply Red, Gabriella Cilmi, Out Of Office, Oliver Lang, Deepgroove and many more…

A chance meeting between Jon and Alex in Ibiza and the ensuing studio sessions gave birth to their new breed of uptempo dance music, starting with Stevie’s Drop, blending their shared love of chunky, rolling ragga beats and good-time party music.

Here they talk openly about their influences and music production methodology, and reveal plans for new projects yet to come.
